Gravel Calculator
A gravel calculator for driveways helps estimate the quantity of gravel needed for construction or renovation projects. It eliminates guesswork by calculating precise material requirements based on driveway dimensions and desired gravel depth. Users can determine both volume and weight measurements, helping them budget accurately, compare material costs, and reduce waste. This tool is essential for homeowners, contractors, and landscapers planning driveway installations or repairs while optimizing material purchases and transportation logistics.
Calculate Gravel Requirements
Calculation Formula
The gravel calculator uses this formula:
Gravel Needed (tons) = (Length × Width × Depth in feet) ÷ Coverage per ton
Depth is converted from inches to feet (÷12). Standard coverage is 1 ton = 0.167 cubic feet (100 sq.ft × 2" deep).
How to Use
1. Measure driveway length and width in feet
2. Enter dimensions in calculator fields
3. Input desired gravel depth (default 2")
4. Click Calculate
5. Review results showing total cubic feet and tons needed
6. Adjust measurements for multiple sections
7. Use clear button to reset fields
Always add 10-15% extra gravel to account for compaction and settling.
